Independant Medical Peer Review

Category: Independent @ 11:19 pm

A independent medical peer review useshistorical data analysis as a basis for a strong foundation of pre-certification analysis. This is an area of the review process that aids the organization in rapid determination of the upcoming patient needs upon diagnosis and allows for the standardization of quality care to be applied to each patient that fits the historical profile. While each case of new disease presents itself as a single occurrence in the individual patient’s life, it is unlikely that it is an unique occurrence in the historical records of any substantial health care organization. Therefore it is likely that established protocols exists for the treatment of a particular condition, a independent medical peer review can assure this is the case.
In addition to the standards of care that are well established with in a particular organization, needs analysis and case assessment are used to compare the quality of care to the nationwide standards so that regional discrepancies are eliminated. This is one of the main values of independent medical peer review. If there is a new standard protocol of treatment for a particular disease or condition, it becomes apparent in the medical records review whether or not these state-of-the-art standards are being followed. Sometimes an organization is completely unaware that certain standards have changed or that they have been improved. This may be because of lack of sufficient research staff, latency in training protocols, or simply because certain treatments have always been done in a certain way by an organization and there is a empirical inertia that slows or inhibits modernization and improvement through change. A independent medical peer review can help identify and cope with these issues.
A independent medical peer review will discover problematic areas and highlight suggestions for improvements which quite frequently are beyond the bounds of the knowledge base of any particular organization. Even when there is sufficient knowledge in the individual staff members, there is often resistance to change that is an individual’s idea even if they are a strong change agent. For improvement to be manifested in an organization it needs to be part of an overall plan of quality of care improvement that is mandated to all of the organizational staff as the accepted agenda for it to have any chance of being implemented.

Independence Is A Virtue

Category: Independent @ 2:18 pm

Independent men are the most attractive to women. They give off the signals that they are both strong and successful. If you are able to give off this impression you will attract the best types of women all round. Being independent is such an important asset to women that they almost value it as highly as being good looking.

A man with his own place, perhaps his own dog and his own double bed is the best catch for women. They see this as a sign of strength and as such it becomes a huge factor in them finding you attractive. Independence is very much about being able to make informed decisions on your own, and not relying on anyone else. IT is not arrogance or even ignorance it is a trait that allows you to be independent but not becoming an island.

No man is an island, and behind every good man there is generally a strong woman. Whether that be the mother or the girlfriend it does not really matter. All that matters is what is important to you and the woman you are trying to connect with. If she sees a strong independent sensitive man, you could be the answer to all her prayers. Being able to take her out for dinner and not being flash is a hugely important facet in your developing relationship.

If a woman is intimidated by you intellectually and emotionally then it gives you an edge over any man in the area. You will have assets that very few men can achieve. Physical intimidation and size is something a lot of men have. But to be able to challenge a woman intellectually and stimulate her mind with your ability to be independent is an entirely different thing altogether.

Independence is a virtue; it is a strong point in a man that all women seek. In order to get it, or at least give off the impression that you are independent. You need to have strength and confidence and a possible ability to blag your way through things. If you have any of the above then you have the ability to be independent. Being independent is all about being able to stand on your own two feet.

If you can stand on your own two feet then there is only one outcome you will get with women. Success, you will have nothing but success.

Spending & Living Independently

Category: Independent @ 12:44 am

It’s a good feeling when you start earning a regular wage, as you are no longer reliant on your parents to buy you the things you want and need. Finally you feel as though you have some independence, and with that independence comes many choices and responsibilities. One of the main choices you will have to make is what to do with all your money you have been working so hard for.

Some people like to spend all their money as soon as they get it. These types of people who live from paycheck to paycheck, believe life is for living and so why not enjoy yourself while you can?

Other people like to save the majority of their money, because whilst they recognise that it is important to have fun now, it is equally important to have fun in the future, which is why they set aside a portion of their income each month so that they will have something to use later on.

Regardless of what you choose to do with your money, the fact remains that you will have to spend some it, as that is part of living an independent lifestyle where you support yourself rather than having other people support you.

Some of the major expenses you can expect to pay include:

Taxes

Tax is something you cannot avoid, so this is an expense you will have to pay and there is very little you can do about it.

Transportation Costs

If you own a car then this will be a major expense for you.

Not only do you have to pay for gas, but you also have to spend money on insurance and car maintenance. This can work out to be very expensive over the course of a year, although if you are able to use your car less, then you can significantly reduce this expense.

Food

Since we all need to eat food in order to survive, food is going to be a major expense for anyone.

However it can also be one of the easiest to reduce, providing you shop smartly and cook your own food. If you are on a budget, don’t eat out as this is a very expensive way to eat.

Rent/Mortgage

This is another common expense, and one you can do very little about. However if you are trying to reduce your expenses then you may be able to reduce your rent by downsizing and moving into more modest accommodation. If you currently own your home, the only option available to you apart from moving, is to pay off your mortgage within a short period of time. Although this may raise your expenses in the short term, in the long term you will end up spending less money on repaying your mortgage.

Encouraging Independence in Children

Category: Independent @ 6:15 pm

One of the most important tasks of parenting is to help children become independent, so that as adults, they can take care of themselves and pursue their dreams. Teaching independence is a long process, beginning in toddlerhood and (hopefully) ending sometime in early adulthood. These skills will help children adapt to new circumstances over the course of a lifetime. Below are some tips to help kids develop independence as they mature.

Give children increasing responsibility.
Teach children that they are important contributors to the family, and give them age appropriate chores. When they are five years old, they may help to fold the laundry, when they are ten they may help with yard work, when they are fifteen, they may help prepare family meals.

As children approach their later teen years, they should know how to do most household chores (cooking, cleaning, laundry, and yard work); so that when they leave home they are ready to function independently.

Encourage kids to try things themselves first.
At times parents over function for kids, and kids become trained to ask for help rather than try things themselves. Whenever a child asks for help, if it is a task that you believe he can do on his own, ask him to try to do it himself first. If he tries, and doesn’t know how to complete a task, offer him help, but teach him how to do the task rather than doing it for him.

Teach kids to solve their own disputes.
Young children will often ask parents to solve disputes between siblings or friends. When children are very young, this is an appropriate role for parents. However, once children develop problem solving ability, encourage them to work out issues among themselves, and to approach you only if someone is in danger or the problem is intractable. If you do step in to help a child work out a dispute with a sibling or friend, act as an arbitrary in a negotiation so that you are modeling how to problem solve with others. If there is any bullying or abuse involved in the dispute, assume an authoritative role and discipline the offending child as needed.

Teach kids how to manage money.
Teach kids how to handle money, including earning money, saving money, prioritizing spending, and giving to others. When they are very young, you can begin be teaching them to save a portion of their money, spend a portion and perhaps donate a portion of by helping with special tasks. By the time kids are teenagers, they should be able to understand how to make a simple budget. Having kids earn their own spending money during the high school years with a part time job, is a great way to introduce them to the real world of providing for oneself.

Teach kids to set goals.
When your child discovers an interest or a passion in life, teach him how to set broad goals and smaller goals as a means to achieving the larger goal. Talk with your child about setbacks, and the importance of persistence in any endeavor. Some children will give up on goals prematurely due to anxiety about failure. Teach the anxious child that failure is an inevitable part of the journey. Children who can identify what they want, set goals, and persist despite setbacks are well on the way to independence.

Employee Vs Independent Contractor

Category: Independent @ 3:00 pm

If I had to identify the single most important decision a business must make regarding how an individual is to be paid for the services he or she provides it would be classification of the individual as an employee or as an independent contractor.

Improperly classifying employees as independent contractors can create serious long-term liabilities for a business. If an individual that the business treated as an independent contractor is later determined to have been an employee by the IRS or the state of Florida, the employer can be held responsible for the payroll taxes that should have been withheld from the individual along with the employer taxes that would have been due, and the penalties for failure to pay these taxes.

Many new businesses look to reduce their costs by using independent contractors rather than employees to perform vital services.

By using independent contractors they save on payroll taxes, workers compensation insurance, and employee benefits. Properly used independent contractors can save a business money, but be careful, just because you call someone an independent contractor does not mean they are one.

In general, an independent contractor is an individual who is in business for him or herself and maintains independence from the business he or she is performing the service for, whereas an employee works for and performs services under the control of the business receiving the service.

The IRS and the state of Florida base worker classification on “common-law” factors designed to gauge the amount of control the business has the right to exercise over the worker. Two frequently cited factors of an employee-employer relationship are that the business is maintaining the right to discharge the worker at will and / or the business is providing the worker tools and a place to work.

By comparison, individuals who are truly independent contractors generally provide their own tools and work place, they have business licenses, and are engaged to complete specific projects and cannot be terminated without cause from a specific project. There are no hard-and-fast rules as to who is an employee and who is an independent contractor. All possible factors pertaining to the business’s control and the worker’s autonomy must be taken into account.

As you can see, there is no easy answer as to when an individual qualifies as an independent contractor. There is however no penalty or liability for misclassifying independent contractors as employees. As a general rule when in doubt the safest classification may be to choose employee.
